The What: Beginning on Sunday, October 18th and extending to November 18th, parishioners of AMC are invited by their Rector to participate in a 30-day period of prayerful discernment for identifying how best, with God’s help, we can be of service to our community in humble, kind, positive, lasting ways.
The Why: There is a readiness within our parish for shifting our attention outward in service to our community. Having journeyed inward, we are now more than ready to journey outward. We have grown in health as a parish community, spiritually, financially, and administratively. Now we are poised to know a new kind of health and joy by sharing kind and full hearts with others through acts of service in support of our community.
The How: Beginning Sunday, October 18th, parishioners of AMC are asked to stop and pause each day at 12 noon to ask prayerfully what God’s will might be for us in service to our community. There is power in knowing we are working together in this way to seek the ministry or ministries we are uniquely equipped to offer our beloved community. At 12 noon each day, and perhaps while washing the dishes, sipping a cup of tea, or drifting off to sleep, let your heart be available, let your imagination wander, and see what stirs within you, what lifts your spirit.
The Sharing: On the Wednesday evening of November 18th, all participants of the prayerful discernment process are invited to share an evening of food and fun as ideas for ministry to our local community are freely exchanged. We hope that the evening will make clear to us the shape of the path of service that is ours to take.
The Prayer: God of all wisdom and compassion, help us to set aside the time and space needed to discern your will for us in service to our community. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us by your Holy Spirit to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it, and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
