Sad news…

It is with regret and sadness that I write to you to share news of the passing of parishioner Jeffrey Lemire.

Jeff was a life-long member of the parish and often spoke of how much he loved the feeling of simply being present within the church.  He served in the Air Force and died this past Friday at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury.  A memorial service in his honor will be held at Ascension Church on September 11th at 5PM.  May Jeffrey’s soul rest in peace.

Teens support Family Promise

Let’s hear it once again for the teens of Ipswich!

Inspired by the enthusiasm of local resident Cindy Laughton Quimby for the good works being done by Family Promise North Shore, a nonprofit interfaith hospitality network that provides temporary housing and other services for families in transition, the teen-age community of Little Neck stepped up and made a difference.

Several Little Neck teens and Cindy’s two sons, held bake sales, slush sales and knocked on doors for school supplies and cash.

Donations came entirely from the Little Neck community, and from their “Back to School” drive.

14 backpacks, lunch boxes, and an abundance of school supplies were purchased.

In addition, each child received a $50 gift card to Kohl’s for other necessary back to school items.

The very willing teens and children eager to help out where needed are: Avelina Carbone, Will Sullivan, Meghan Lally, Linnea Kelley, Emma Bouley, Maddie Mucher, John Quimby and Charlie Quimby.

The community, parents and Family Promise director, Russell Queen are grateful and so proud of these young people, who look forward to continuing their volunteer relationship with Family Promise.
