Vicki Hughes, Robert Auwerda

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

Our life together as a community sometimes offers a conflicted mixture of celebration and grief.

Last night I visited Vicki Hughes at the Critical Care Unit of Beverly Hospital and found her much recovered: awake and able to share in conversation.  She has received excellent care and is expected to make a full recovery.

Earlier yesterday, I visited with the family of parishioner Robert Auwerda, a regular worshipper at the 8AM service, married 25 years to his lovely wife, Liz, and a thoroughly devoted father of six amazing children.  Robert died this past Saturday at his home in Rowley at the age of 54.

As we celebrate Vicki’s recovery, please lovingly hold the Auwerda family in your thoughts and prayers.

God’s peace,

2017 Stewardship Pledge Campaign

As we go through our 2017 Stewardship Pledge Campaign it would be helpful to the Vestry, as it seeks to develop our 2017 Budget, to have Pledge Cards sent in as soon as possible. Thank you.

Prayers for Vicki Hughes

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

Parishioner Vicki Hughes is being treated in the Critical Care Unit at Beverly Hospital. Vicki drove herself to the hospital on Sunday feeling poorly and her conditioned worsened which led to her being admitted and brought for care to the CCU.

I visited with her this morning (Nov. 2).  For reasons of privacy, I was not able to ask the CCU staff questions about her condition, but in my guarded estimation Vicki appears to be doing better.

Vicki is a gem and all who know her are deeply fond of her and grateful for her passionate concern for her students, for all creatures great and small , and for our fragile earth, our island home.

Send good thoughts to Vicki and do hold her in your prayers.

If there is more news that I can share later today or in the days ahead, I will.

God’s peace,

This Sunday 2PM ~ Memorial Service for Frank B. Day

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

I write to share sad news.  This past Sunday Frank B. Day, husband to Christine Day, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Beverly Hospital.  Frank was a beloved and passionate professor of chemistry for some 50 years, served as our parish treasurer and as a member of the vestry, and will be greatly missed and well remembered by friends and family, near and far.

A memorial service will be held at Ascension Memorial Church this Sunday at 2PM with reception to follow in St. Matthew’s Parlor.

God’s peace,
