Paige Mercer

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

Our closely knit parish has been asked to accept much in these past few weeks.

This afternoon I write to you again, this time to inform you of the death of Paige Mercer.

Paige had a glow about her, a person of grace and beauty as well reflected in her gorgeous, beautifully cultivated gardens.

May our love and prayers this morning be with her husband Chuck, lovingly devoted to Paige for years and years, and with her daughter and son.

Plans for a service to honor and remember Paige will be forthcoming.

God’s peace to all and may all those we love yet see no longer abide in light and love.

Rick Phillips

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

It is with regret and sadness that I write to share the news of the passing of Rick Phillips who died early Tuesday morning.

Rick had been married to parishioner Dottie Phillips for some 37 years and served as a gifted, deeply appreciated child Psychologist.

Rick and Dottie have lived at Ipswich Woods for years with their numerous, lively Chihuahua companions.

The memorial service for Rick will be held this Friday at 11AM at Ascension with lunch reception to follow in St. Matthew’s Parlor.

May Rick’s kind soul rest in peace and may our love and prayers surround and comfort his beloved Dottie.

God’s peace,

Family Promise Gift Baskets

We have an opportunity to give the Family Promise families a very special Mother’s Day gift from their children this year.  A gift basket, full of high quality personal care products ranging from body lotions, facial creams, shampoos and conditioners and even some deliciously scented colognes for a modest donation of $50 per basket.  That is all it will take to delight these children and their special mothers.  What mother wouldn’t love to receive this from their children on Mother’s Day?  Please give a call to Dawn Edwards at 781-720-9046 or stop by and see Dawn Edwards after Sunday’s service.

Hope Wigglesworth

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

A dear soul, treasured and respected by so many throughout Ipswich and well beyond for her kindness, intelligence, and generous spirit, departed peacefully this morning with her four children at her side.

Hope “Hopie” Wigglesworth went into the hospital earlier this week for a successful procedure but during her recovery suffered a stroke.  She overcame the initial impact of the stroke and was wonderfully, even humorously, responsive to family and friends, but a full recovery was not likely to be, so Hope seems to have departed graciously on her own terms.

A service for Hopie will be held in late June.  Details for that special occasion will be sent at a later date.

May her soul rest in peace and may the love of God guide her, even now, along her way.

God’s peace,
