Rest in peace, Jack Benedix

June 12, 2017

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Ascension Memorial Church,

I write to inform you of the passing last night of Jack Benedix, husband of 66 years to Ann, father to David and Cori, and parishioner of Ascension Memorial Church since birth.

Jack suffered a stroke some eight weeks ago, came through without loss of speech or mobility, and was expected to return home after a few weeks of rehabilitation.

However, the stroke complicated Jack’s health in other, unexpected ways.  These last few weeks, it became clear that Jack would not be able to overcome these further challenges to his health, even as he remained to the end hopeful, lucid, and ever-mindful of his beloved Ann, his family and his friends.

These past few months have been a period of significant loss within our community of faith.  Jack’s passing adds significantly to this sense of loss, to the added weight of our shared grief.  Please be gentle and kind with yourself and with others. We grieve because we love, and there is still time to love even more deeply.

The Burial Office for Jack will be held this coming Saturday, June 17th at 11AM at Ascension Memorial Church with reception to follow in St. Matthew’s Parlor.

God’s peace,

Brad+
